Rare Vintage ELTA EGS 650 "Solo" Electric guitar Soviet Era USSR
The guitar was produced in the 70s of the twentieth century by the Elta plant (Elets, Lipetsk region), specializing in the production of television picture tubes. The beginning of production is supposedly 1972. Sound range 3 octaves. Solid body guitar, neck without anchor, 22 years old, fastened with two screws. Pegs - six on one record, the same ones were used on electric guitars Tonic (Sverdlovsk, Rostov-on-Don) and Krunk (Yerevan). The pickups are two single-coil pickups, non-height adjustable. The output is a 5-DIN connector, located on the pickguard. The neck and body are coated with polyester varnish. The electrical circuit is the same as on the electric guitar Tonika, bass guitars Caucasus, Tonika, etc. - a five-position switch, sound and tone controls. The tailpiece with tremolo is attached to the body with special screws. The bridge is not fixed; the rope can be adjusted and raised in height.
Guitar weight 3.4 kg. The cost in prices of the 70s is 180 rubles. These instruments are quite rare in the post-Soviet space. Most likely, the guitars were produced in small quantities, like the usual production of the Elta factory. This is indicated by the neckplates, clearly made by hand, and the rough execution of the guitar parts.
A description of the compilation based on surviving photographs of the instrument and notes in the book by D. S. Medvedovsky and O. N. Guzevich Electromusical plucked instruments.
